Gaude went so far as to suggest that the department should be shut down due to its failure to construct the promised Tribal Bhavan and its perceived lack of benefit to the state’s tribal communities. When questioned by the media, Sawant emphasized the importance of ministerial responsibility, stating, “A responsible Minister should behave responsibly. Will take appropriate action.” His statement signals a clear disapproval of Gaude’s public criticism and hints at possible disciplinary or corrective measures being considered within the government.
This episode has exposed underlying tensions within the state cabinet and brought renewed attention to the challenges faced by Goa’s tribal population, especially regarding the long-pending Tribal Bhavan project.
