PANJIM: The final rites of advocate activist Satish Sonak were held at St Inez crematorium in Panjim on Saturday. Hundreds of activists, lawyers and NGO heads, along with political leaders, including Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, attend the funeral.
The funeral procession left from Sonak’s St Inez residence at 10 am.
Besides the Chief Minister, PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, Prabhakar Timble, AAP leader Valmiki Naik and students leaders from Sonak’s time attended the last rites.
Advocate Aires Rodrigues said Goa has lost a son of the soil who sacrificed his life for the service of the downtrodden and to give justice to the disabled and weaker sections of society.
Sonak died on Friday morning at GMC following a massive cardiac arrest at JMFC Patto, Panjim court.
Sardesai also expressed sorrow and said, “It is a big loss for Goa and the people whom he was rendering his service through his profession.”
