PONDA: After two monkeys died of Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) at Shantinagar and Savoi Verem in Ponda, the Directorate of Health Services and Ponda health officials have asked all doctors at the Ponda sub-district hospital (PSDH) to strictly supervise the patients who had a high fever.
PSDH official Dr Pradeep Shinkre has also urged the people not to panic and to get admitted at the sub-district hospital or nearby health centres if they had a high fever.
He also informed that the two monkeys were found dead in Ponda last week, and samples sent by the Disease Investigation Unit at Tonca-Caranzalem to the National Institute of Virology Pune had tested positive for KFD.
He added that no local had tested positive for the disease and that the hospital was “alert and prepared to handle cases of high fever”.
