PANJIM: Tourism Department will be tendering works amounting to Rs 100 crore to upgrade infrastructure on 19 beaches in April, next month.
“State Tourism department has finalized various infrastructure projects,” Goa Tourism Development Corporation’s (GTDC) Chairman Nilesh Cabral said. He added that once the work is completed beaches will be equipped with infrastructure required to provide better experience to tourists.
Cabral said 19 beaches and other tourism places would be taken up for infrastructure works like toilets, parking and beautification. “We have initially decided to take up the work on 19 beaches which are most populated where infrastructure creation is a dire need,” he said.
Cabral said the work will be taken up in three phases. In the first phase, three beaches have been identified followed by eight each in the second and third phases.
Under the same programme, the government has also decided to construct public toilets along roads.
