MARGAO: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has assured that the District Hospital in Ambaji, Fatorda, will be completed by November and most likely inaugurated on December 1. He has also committed to inaugurating the nursing college by June 2017.
“We want to inaugurate the hospital by December 1 and the nursing college in June 2017. We have made sure that no delay beyond November will be done. This is our flagship project and we have to deliver on time,” said Parsekar, who had inspected the District Hospital site on Wednesday.
He further said, “We have to apply for a nursing college to the Nursing Council of India six months prior. We are planning to start the 100-seat nursing college by July 2017. Due to the limitation of seats, we have to start planning soon.
“I will seek a progress report of the work at the hospital every month. Additionally, at least two other super specialty departments, ideally orthopedic and cardiac, are being planned for the District Hospital as there are long queues at the cardiac division in GMC, Bambolim,” said Parsekar.
During the inspection, he was accompanied by MLAs Nilesh Cabral, Rajan Naik, Subhash Phal Dessai, GSIDC General Manager Subhash Nage, and consultants for the project.
Nage informed that the electrical works and remaining civil works at the hospital would be completed by October. He said, “Rs 4 to 5 crore is being put in every month and the pace of work is being maintained.
He further informed that they would invite tenders for the medical and interior works by April 25, and the work order would be issued within a month.
MLA Phal Dessai added, “Every Thursday, we meet the contractor’s workers and the consultant, and I visit the site every week. We plan to finish the work by November 1, as per schedule.”
