A disturbing animal cruelty complaint has sparked outrage in Goa after the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) South approached Ponda Police seeking immediate registration of an FIR against a resident of Durbhat. According to the complaint filed on June 16, the organisation alleged that a cow was subjected to sexual abuse, prompting demands for urgent legal action.DSPCA has requested that police invoke relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act while investigating the case. The organisation has also called for an immediate veterinary examination of the animal to preserve potential medical and forensic evidence.Additionally, DSPCA has sought the transfer of the cow to a recognised shelter where it can receive treatment and protection during the investigation. Police are expected to verify the allegations and determine further action in accordance with the law.
