MARGAO: The Curtorim Panchayat hasn’t received fixtures and regular service from the electricity department for over two years. The panchayat has been taking up the issue with the department for years in vain.
Notwithstanding the lack of assistance from the power department, the panchas have been replacing the worn-out street lights and the fixtures either with their own or from panchayats funds.
The panchayat members complained that years ago they had received five fixtures each from the local MLA. Since then the panchas have been in constant touch with the MLA who has assured to take up the issue with the department. However, till date the panchayat has not received any fixtures from the power department, the panchas lamented.
