The complaint has been sent to the Female Employees Grievance Cell of CEE, Women’s Exploitation Cell, Junta House and Police Inspector of Women Police Station, Panjim. And a copy of the complaint has also been sent to the Power minister’s OSD.
The victim has also informed the chief electrical engineer of the sexual harassment by the assistant engineer.
In her complaint, the officer has said that the assistant engineer under whom she was working has been making sexual advances towards her and sexually harassing her at her work place. She has accused the engineer of touching her, demanding sexual favours and passing sexually-coloured remarks against her.
She said that she warned the engineer to refrain from behaving in such a manner and alleged that the engineer told her to complain as he was ready to face action but would not stop from touching her and demanding sexual favours.
She also alleged that the engineer visited her residence despite several warnings and developed a relationship with her husband.
She has requested the authorities to constitute a committee over the issue and inquire into it, as she feels insecure at the work place and is going through metal pressure.
The Women’s Police Station has received the complaint copy. Police Inspector Sudikha Naik said that they have already started the preliminary inquiry but there is no FIR filed as yet. She has said that they have written to the electricity department seeking a report for further action.
“We can simultaneously investigate the matter, as the statement of the lady officer has already been recorded. I will talk to my senior and proceed in the matter but the internal departmental inquiry is also important,” Naik said.
Sources in the electricity department said that the engineer is a bachelor and is due to retire from service and there have been earlier allegations against him.
