Margao:Commotion erupted at Velim Panchayat after a tree being cut near Velim Panchayat fell on electricity lines. The tree was felled in such a manner that it knocked the power lines off. Power couldn’t be restored till late night due to the incident.
Locals alleged felling was not done properly. Maurice Colaco said a tree behind the panchayat was being cut during the day and a power shutdown was in place during the period. The power dept staff requested the people felling the tree to stop work for the day in the evening and said they intended to restore power.
