PANJIM: Power Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar on Monday said that certain amount of power tariff hike in the State is inevitable.
Referring to the public hearing by the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) last week, Dhavalikar said that the JERC will submit its proposal to the State government regarding revision in power tariff within next two months. Once the proposals are received, the State government will decide on it and how much hike should be effected.

“We had requested JERC not to hike power tariff in the State, but they said that it has to be revised,” he said, appealing to the people of Goa to bear some hike in power tariff so as to receive better quality power.
Starting that the government will promote solar and hydrogen mission, he disclosed that the government plans to generate 150 MW of power in the State within next two years. “We have to generate power,” he said.
The minister further said that the Kadamba sub-station will be upgraded by spending Rs 25 crore.
During the public hearing conducted by the JERC, the consumers and others had opposed the proposed six per cent hike in power tariff.
