Prog focuses on bringing majority of State export industries together

PANJIM: Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), with Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC),  and Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) organised a capacity building daylong programme on ‘How to boost Exports of Engineering Products from Goa’ on Wednesday.

The discussion helped the exporters, industry, CEOs/Heads of export firms, manufacturers, and also new exporters, entrepreneurs looking for the proper guidance to explore potential of the export markets. 

The event also focused on bringing majority of Goan export industries together for an important cause of enhancing exports from Goa. 

EEPC chairman Mahesh Desai mentioned that the key objective of the program was to provide avenues for growth through exports and to existing exporters and prospective exporters (small & medium) and also to discuss their issues.

Rajat Srivastava, Director and Regional Director of EEPC explained what new products and new markets are available for Goa engineering industries.

In his presentations, he mentioned that engineering exports reached its lifetime 2021-22 surpassing the previous record 2017-18. However, uncertainties on global novel COVID-19 pandemic pulled down 73.11 billion in 2020-21.

He said only 6 per cent of engineering goods exported from India can India spends less than 1 per cent of its GDP in R&D as compared to 5 per cent by countries like Korea and Taiwan. However, India’s engineering exports rose to US $ 60.9 billion in April-October 2021-22 registering a growth rate 59.14 per cent.

Pandian, RM ECGC explained about how Goa exporters can cover their credit risks by taking ECGC cover. 

Wide range of topics covering all the queries of Goan exporters on how DIC can help industries/exporters, export process and export promotion schemes by Government of India, export opportunities and schemes for MSMEs, risks in exports, finance for exporters, information of re-calibrating supply chain and new export markets were discussed.
