PANJIM: Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) has retorted to the allegations of non cooperation with the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and claimed that no digging has been carried out in the city under Smart city project since February 13.
Speaking to Herald, IPSCDL Managing Director and CEO Swayandipta Chaudhuri said “The project is a government project with CCP onboard. As far as the digging issue is concerned, under the Smart City project there is no digging being carried out since February 13, after the directions of the North Goa Collector.”
Sources informed that Panjim Mayor Uday Madkaikar had written to the IPSCDL CEO on March 19 this year demanding him to be present for a hearing with all documents related to their works in Panjim city on March 25.
However, along with a letter informing the works being carried out by the Smart City Mission under the Goa Intelligent City Management System – Panaji City (GICMS) was submitted in person by the IPSCDL General Manager Salim Veljee on March 25 to the Mayor.
Seeking cooperation on completion of the works being carried out, the letter further stated “This office solicits all due cooperation and support of your kind esteemed office in realising the mandate and mission both of the Smart City Mission as well as your Corporation through timely and uninterrupted completion.”
Referring to the Board, a source further informed that CCP Commissioner is part of the IPSCDL Board and therefore all projects are under the knowledge of the CCP.
Additionally, the source informed that in the year 2018 alone the CCP had enthrusted the IPSCDL with a number of works on behalf of the city corporation. The source informed that vide CCP resolutions of August 30 and September 4 more than 20 different works were requested by the CCP to be undertaken by the IPSCDL.
