PANJIM: Public Works Department’s contract workers marched to the Chief Minister’s residence at Altinho protesting the government’s failure to regularise their services.
The workers said they held a morcha as the government failed to absorb them into regular service despite several assurances. They also demanded to know the status of their employment as no official order regarding this had been issued.
In January, the temporary PWD workers had met the chief minister at his residence at Altinho over the issue of regularising their services and according to them, the chief minister had assured to solve their problem.
The temporary workers were recruited through the PWD Labour Supply Society in 2013. Since then they have been struggling to get their services regularised. Even though government recruited new staffers in the PWD, they say they have been ignored.
