CURCHOREM: PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar on Wednesday said that his department would release water during the day wherever it is currently released at night for a limited duration, so that the people can get uninterrupted sleep at night.
Pauskar was addressing the media persons at his Sanvordem office when he made the announcement.
He informed that he had a meeting with the principal chief engineer, executive engineers of all the 24 divisions of PWD including officials of JICA projects, Sewerage Treatment and National Highways at Secretariat soon after taking the charge to get acquainted with the total ongoing works under his ministry.
“85 percent of work of JICA project from Salalulim to Marmogao has been completed and the remaining work would be completed soon after appointing a new contractor,” Pauskar said.
On sewerage pipeline, he said that more funds would be sought from the Central government to complete the ongoing work at Ponda, Margao, Vasco, Mapusa, Colva and Baga. “Once completed it will be mandatory for all to connect their sewerage pipe to the main pipe line,” he said.
However, he said, “Those who are having their own STP would be asked to connect the main pipeline and for the new projects it will be mandatory. And without sewerage connection, permanent water connection would not be released.”
“It is decided to widen the village roads wherever possible without troubling the locals and new compound walls would be built through PWD if any private compound wall has to be demolished,” Pauskar said and added that work on national highways would be completed at the earliest with quality materials.
