PANJIM: The Goan Welfare Association, Qatar on Monday donated Rs 2.60 lakh to new Retreat Centre (Cruz De Milagres) and Caritas Goa ahead of Christmas and their annual practice of donating to noble causes.
The cheque was handed over to Archbishop Felipe Neri Ferrao by GWA President Simon D’Silva in the presence of Congress working committee member Luizinho Faleiro, financial administrator of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman Rev Fr Valeriano Vaz, Caritas Director Fr Maverick Fernandes and GWA Qatar officials at Archbishop’s House, Altinho.
Appreciating the initiative, the archbishop gave the cheque of Rs 60,000 to Caritas to use it exclusively for the orphan children suffering from HIV.
Archbishop appreciated the efforts of the GWA saying, “We are grateful to the association for their generosity shown towards Cruz De Milagres and Caritas Goa.” Faleiro also echoed similar view.
