QUEPEM: Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa has urged the Quepem Municipal Council to initiate action against illegalities happening in the town.
Speaking at the 39th anniversary of yellow and black motorcycle pilots association, D’Costa expressed his displeasure at the attempt to stop erection of a shed for motorcycle pilots. He said that while the work was on, the municipal authorities went to the site and stopped it. He said that when he enquired with the Quepem mamlatdar, he was told that the work has been ordered to be stopped by one of the Ministers from South Goa, he said but declined to reveal his name.
Turning to Quepem municipal chairperson Filu D’Costa, who was also seated on the dais, the MLA said, “There are so many illegal things happening in Quepem. I had raised the matter in Assembly also. But the municipality is not taking action against them but chose to single out and harass motorcycle pilots.
Altone questioned the government for using and abusing the police machinery to stop the work while, turning a Nelson’s eye to all the illegalities happening in and around Quepem town. Illegalities galore but municipality is selectively targetting opponents, he said.
