Shockingly, his 3-month old baby found dead too
Had tiff with wife over child’s custody

MARGAO/CURCHOREM: In a shocking incident, a man and his three-month old baby were found dead in a hut in a remote part of Pirla-Quepem on Friday.
Cuncolim police had registered an offence against Harichandra Gaonkar under section 363 of IPC and Goa Children’s Act on a complaint filed by his wife Ashmita for taking away their three-month-old child, named Samixa.
According to information, Ashmita had been to her sister’s house at Sucdolem. The same day the deceased is learnt to have forcibly taken the child from her possession.
Today, family members of Harichandra were shocked to find him hanging from the rafter in the hut adjoining his house. The child was also found dead in the hut.
Quepem Police said Harichandra’s brother, who was staying with the deceased in their ancestral house, which is one-and-half kilometre away from the hut, found his brother hanging and informed the other members.
The Quepem police team police team had to walk a considerable distance to reach the site as the hut is about 8 kms from the main road.
They removed the deceased and shifted the bodies of Harichandra and the child to the Hospicio morgue for the post-mortem. They have registered two separate cases of unnatural deaths and investigation is in progress.
The motive behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained and police investigations are in progress under the supervision of PI Ram Asre.
