Rama Attack Case: Court Extends Remand of Eight Accused; CM Assures Fair Probe Amid Political Row

The Panjim JMFC Court on Wednesday extended the police custody of all eight accused, including Zenito Cardozo, for two more days in connection with the Rama Kankonkar assault case.

During the hearing, Zenito’s counsel opposed the remand extension, arguing that police sought additional custody only for vehicle and phone recovery and that objections regarding grounds of arrest should have been raised earlier. Police countered that the court had already sent the accused to custody once, and further investigation required their continued remand.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister assured the public of a fair and detailed probe, stating that while “some people have the habit of politicizing every issue,” his police team would investigate the case thoroughly. He expressed full confidence in the law enforcement agencies handling the matter.
