Even though sound permission for same day is rejected

PONDA: After permitting one group to celebrate Shigmo in Ponda on March 27, the Ponda Deputy Collector has tried to appease the rival group by suggesting that it could consider organizing Shigmo on March 28.
The Ponda Taluka Antruz Shigmotsav Samiti (PTASS) has however rejected the offer and is determined to hold the Shigmo on March 27, the same day as the official function to be organised by the Antruz Mahal Shigmotsav Samiti (AMSS).
In his reply to the PTASS letter seeking permission to use sound at Shigmo, the Deputy Collector Ponda on March 18 stated that the State government has also constituted a separate and independent committee to organise Shigmo in the city on March 27.
“Application to grant sound permission on March 27 stands rejected. However if you wish to obtain it for March 28, you may move a fresh application for consideration,” the deputy collector told the PTASS. However PTASS is not willing to accept the deputy collector’s offer and has decided to organise Shigmo as decided on March 27.
“It is surprising that the deputy collector had rejected permission for March 28 and we had to apply for March 27, which was also rejected. We are not ready to change the dates and will organize Shigmo as scheduled,” PTASS Secretary Damu Naik told Herald.
PMC has not given any permission to the PTASS to install a stage or barricade along the route for a Shigmo parade.
It may be recalled that PTASS headed by former chief minister Ravi Naik had staked claim to organise Shigmo stating that PTASS was the traditional Samiti which has been organising Shigmo. There was another claim from the Antruz Mahal Shigmotsav Samiti (AMSS), headed by PWD and Transport Minister Sudin Dhavlikar, to organise Shigmo.
PMC after rejecting permission to PTASS had referred the matter to the State government and recently the order was passed in favour of Dhavlikar.
