MARGAO: In a major relief to tiatr enthusiasts, the main auditorium of the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, will remain available for staging tiatr shows during this year’s
International Film Festival of
India (IFFI).
Earlier, there were concerns among tiatr directors as IFFI films were initially expected to be screened at the main auditorium, which would have made it unavailable for the popular Goan theatrical performances.
The uncertainty had caused some distress among the tiatr community, but the decision to shift IFFI screenings to an open-air venue has resolved this issue.
Ravindra Bhavan chairman Rajendra Talak clarified that the renovation of the main auditorium will be taken up next year, after which the venue will likely undergo significant upgrades for IFFI 2025.
Once the tender for the renovation works is issued, tiatr directors will be notified about the availability of the space for their performances, he informed.
