MARGAO: Extending his support to the people of Betim and Panjim agitating against the casinos in River Mandovi, Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has called upon the people of Goa to come out and stop the menace of casinos from the state once and for all.
He also dared the BJP government to dish out information on the number of Goans visiting the casinos and the families ruined by gambling.
Addressing the media, Reginaldo said that the only solution to the casino problem is for the people of Goa to come out and get the casinos stopped. “These casinos have been obstacles for traffic in river Mandovi and have polluted the river”, he said, while demanding refusal of permission for the Floatel and elimination of all casinos from the river. He said that Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has recently come out with his own recipe of U-turns stating that the decisions to shift casinos out of Mandovi was not his and that it is difficult to move these out. “It is a pity to state the fact that lay people and common man  have to struggle for one year for mutation and two years for NOCs for their small work, while these big companies get mutation and NOCs done overnight”, he said.
