PANJIM: The Discriminated Teachers’ Forum (DTF) has called on the government to address their grievances and relieve them from their “tremendous hardships, financial loss… resulting in mental torture and turpitude.”
The teachers who were retired at 58, when the government brought down the retirement age for teachers to fifty-eight, have felt injustice done to them after the government took the retirement age back to 60 barely a couple of years later. They have now written to all BJP legislators and ministers to take steps to solve their grievances.
“The CM has been assuring the DTF delegation every time that he has understood the problems of prematurely retired teachers and that he would solve them at the earliest possible time. But we are in the dark of any steps taken in the matter,” the DTF president Neves Rebello has said.
The memorandum seeks to remind the CM of BJP’s promise in its poll manifesto, where it is said that the BJP promised “to extend the missed benefits to all the teachers, retired at the age of 58 prior to increasing the retirement age to 60 years in the event they come to power.”
They want their grievances addressed in the forthcoming assembly session.
