MARGAO: This may come as a temporary relief for the traditional fishermen from Colva as the government has kept on hold projects mooted on the 50,000 square.metres land acquired by the tourism department.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has told the tourism department to keep all proposals mooted on the acquired land in Colva on hold till further orders. Tourism Minister, Dilip Parulekar said the chief minister has issued the instructions following the intervention of Benaulim legislator Caitu Silva to save the habitat of the traditional fishermen.
Parulekar conveyed the news to a traditional fishermen from Colva, Thomas Rodrigues during his visit to the village on Thursday. “We will not do anything that would displace the fishermen or disturb their huts or the place where they anchor their canoes”, Parulekar added.
