The water of this spring is known to relax the body and mind of the visitors as well as the tourists frequenting the spot. The Calangute Constituency Forum took up the initiative to clean this spring and its surrounding area.
A local of Calangute, Cyril D’souza pointed out that this spring was once thronged by locals for its medicinal values but now is less frequented as it stands polluted. “Inhabitants of Calangute can tell people about this spring. At the side of the spring was a Buddhist monastery and it was a total peaceful environment. This water has medicinal properties and is now polluted. Give us back this place the way it was several years ago. This is not the same place it used to be and I feel bad that it has been neglected,” he said.
Another local told Herald that there was a need to test and gauge the level of pollution of this spring. There was also a need to carry out restoration work of this spring that was once a favorite spot of the people from Calangute.
