Revised scheme for retrenched workers in the offing

PANJIM: The Goa State Labour Welfare Board has decided to bring changes in retrenched workers assistance scheme.

The 47th meeting of the Goa Labour Welfare Board chaired by Labour and Employment Minister Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate at Porvorim, discussed several welfare schemes like first-aid training, skill development etc for their formulation. It was decided to refer them to the Board’s sub-committee, for deliberations

The members discussed the Retrenched Workers Assistance Scheme and sought to bring additional changes to it for the benefit of workers. Among other things, it was also decided to ensure that the Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1986 is adhered to strictly.

Commissioner for Labour and Employment and Secretary of Goa Labour Welfare Board, Levinson Martins was present.
