PANJIM: The Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, on Sunday, said they would revise the start-up policy soon, after inaugurating the Goa Startup Conclave & Entrepreneurship Summit, “Antha Prerna 2021” at Dona Paula. The summit is organised by Startup Promotion Cell, Goa in collaboration with Atal Incubation Centre-Goa Institute of Management (AICGIM) Foundation and Info Tech Corporation of Goa Limited.
While addressing the Antha Prerna, Sawant said that, “With immense pride I can say that Goa is one of the first four States in India to implement a start-up policy. We are in fact revising the Start-Up Policy very soon with lot of additional changes which will benefit the upcoming Startups. As of today, our IT department has certified more than 100 start-ups in Goa. Goa is fast becoming the preferred base for start-ups in India and our vision is to see Goa featuring in the top 25 Startup destinations in Asia by 2025. I believe startups need an ecosystem created in order to foster a culture of ideation and innovation; we need to encourage thinking from school and college level. We have already started implementing Coding and Robotics Education from school level.”
He extended his congratulations to Start-up Promotion Cell, Goa and Department of Information Technology for organising this Goa Start-up Conclave and Entrepreneurship Summit ‘Antha Prerna’ in collaboration with Atal Incubation Centre and Goa Institute of Management.
The Chief Minister further added that his government has subsidised the fees for all the degree and diploma technical education in Government and aided Colleges. “This will ensure that no student will be left out from opting for non technical to technical courses I am glad that we are also launching the future skill training programme initiative by NASSCOM in Goa. I strongly believe such programs will help our future generation to be technology ready and more innovative. We need to integrate all stakeholders, and, at all levels, to boost the startup ecosystem in Goa. We will soon have the Bharat broadband project implemented in Goa to ensure a very strong Internet connectivity.
The eminent speakers included dignitaries from Startup India, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Atal Innovation Mission, Niti Aayog, MEITY Startup Hub, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and CEOs of 10 Atal Incubation Centres (AIC)s across India. Around 60 start-ups of Goa attended this conclave.
