Revision of photo electoral rolls: EC plans special campaigns

PANJIM, NOV 2 As part of its fresh revision programme of photo electoral rolls which commenced from yesterday, the Election Commission (EC) has planned two special campaigns.

As part of its fresh revision programme of photo electoral rolls which commenced from yesterday, the Election Commission (EC) has planned two special campaigns.
The draft electoral rolls were published on November 1 whereas people are given time till November 23, 2010 to file their claims and objections.
The special campaign will be conducted between November 7 and 13 and between November 13 and 21, said Ganesh Koyu, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) while addressing a press conference on Tuesday.
Final publication of electoral rolls will be on January 5, 2011 and the rolls will be displayed for checking from January 5, 2011 to January 12, 2011.
Whereas during the period from November 1 and 23, draft electoral rolls will be kept open for inspection at all the polling stations and at the offices of deputy collectors, mamlatdars and district collectors.
The roll will be also available on the CEO website – www.ceogoa.nic for inspection by the people.
Number of total electorates in Goa is 1042385 with 463000 in South Goa and 579385 in North Goa.
Whereas total photo entries in north are 490907 and 370509 in South.
Total number of EPIC holders in north is 4750854 and 366788 in South and the number of persons without EPIC is 108531 and 96212 in North and South respectively.
