VALPOI: Rivem locals launched a morcha on the Electricity Department, Valpoi and demanded strict action against a linesman for allegedly abusing a woman with filthy language over the phone.
Women from Rivem complained of having no power supply in their village since one week. They informed that one of the village women had called the Valpoi Sub Station to complain regarding the power problem in village. They further alleged that the linesman, who received the call, allegedly abused the woman with filthy words and that’s the reason why the women of Rivem launched a morcha on the department and demanded to strict action against the linesman.
“Since past many days we are facing the power supply problem in our village. We have informed our panch regarding the problem. But the panch failed to act, complained Namrata Sadekar, a villager.
“There is no power supply in our village for the past many days. So all village women have come together and have come to the Valpoi Sub Station to complain regarding the power problem. When one of our women contacted the department, a linesman, who received the phone call, started abusing her with filthy words. So we held a morcha on the Electricity Department Valpoi and demanded that the Assistant Engineer take action against the linesman, Sharmila Namdev Gaonkar, another villager demanded.
Saudagar, Assistant Engineer, Electricity Department Valpoi assured the women to take the action against the linesman for using filthy language.
