Road repair work carried out by the Public Works Department (PWD) at the Old Market circle today led to major traffic disruptions in the area. The repairs were undertaken on a damaged stretch of the road, prompting authorities to block access from 8 a.m. onwards.
According to social worker Milagres Fernandes, the sudden road closure caused traffic to be diverted through alternate routes, resulting in heavy congestion during peak morning hours—particularly affecting school commuters. The disruption left motorists and parents stuck in long jams, sparking concerns over the lack of prior public notification.
