PANJIM: As many as 16 persons including nine two-wheeler riders died last month compared to 17 deaths reported across the State in October this year as per the road accident statistics released by the Department of Transport.
Four pedestrians, two drivers and a pillion rider were the others who died last month. Also 22 persons were grievously injured and 86 received minor injuries.
As far as accidents were concerned, 15 fatal, 18 grievous and 43 minor accidents were reported in November this year. The total accidents reported last month in the State were 241.
In October this year, 17 fatal deaths were reported even as the State had recorded 260 road accidents across the State. Of these 11 fatal deaths were reported in North Goa district and six in the South Goa district.
Of those who lost their lives, 11 were two-wheeler riders (7 in North and 4 in South) and three pillion riders each in both the districts.
Besides this, 16 grievous accidents – 10 in North Goa and 6 in South Goa, 47 minor accidents (22 in North Goa and 25 in South Goa) and 180 non-injury accidents (114 in North Goa and 66 in South Goa) were reported in October this year.
Also 26 people (19 in North Goa and 7 in South Goa) were grievously injured while, 78 persons (37 in North Goa and 41 in South Goa) suffered minor injuries.
