PORVORIM: Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has decided to beautify the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Udhyan at Mapusa at an estimated cost of Rs 1.50 crore.
The consultant appointed by MMC submitted the landscape architectural design of the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Udhyan to MMC Chairperson Sandeep Falari and municipal engineer Hussain Muzawar. After discussing it with the consultant, Falari and Muzawar made certain suggestions and advised the consultant to prepare a final design and submit the estimates to the MMC.
Later speaking to Herald, Falari stated that MMC has decided to undertake beautification of the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Udhyan, which is near the taxi stand.
“The Udhyan was built during the Portuguese colonial period and there was demand from the general public to beautify it.“The project will be undertaken by Goa State Urban Development Agency. MMC is also trying to find a corporate sponsor. Once the consultant submits the final design along with the estimates of the Udhyan, the work will be tendered,” informed Falari.
