Cash of Rs 1 lakh was stolen from the car of a contractor of Chicalim on Wednesday morning.
According to Vasco Police, some unknown person decamped with cash of Rs 1 lakh from Ganesh Kumar’s Maruti car, which he had parked near Vasco Residency Hotel.
Police further informed that the burglar damaged the side glass of the rear door of the car and fled with the cash, which was kept in the dash box of the car.
Kumar claimed that he had withdrawn Rs 1.5 lakh from a bank on Wednesday at about 10.30 am.
“I had kept Rs 50,000 in my purse and the remaining amount of Rs 1 lakh, wrapped in paper, was kept in the dash box of my car,” said Kumar.
After parking his car outside the Vasco Residency Hotel, he went to meet his client at Apna Bazar building.
However, when he returned after half an hour, he was shocked to see the rear window of his car damaged and cash missing from the car.
Vasco Police have registered a case against unknown person and is investigating the case.
