PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has stated that the Rs 130 crore scam being investigated by the Economic Offences Cell (EOC) of the Goa Police is the biggest scam in the State, with connections spanning from ‘Fatorda to London’.

Goa Forward Party (GFP) president and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has welcomed Sawant’s commitment to unravelling the investment scam and arresting the accused in London.
Speaking on the sidelines of a programme in Margao, Sawant said, “The EOC is investigating everyone involved, from Fatorda to London.” The Chief Minister added that the Goa Police are determined to bring the accused, who fled to London, back to Goa to provide relief to the small investors who deposited their money and are now in serious trouble. “This is not Rs 100 crore scam; it is Rs 130 crore scam,” he emphasised.
Welcoming the Chief Minister’s statement, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai alleged that Sawant was trying to divert attention from the cash-for-jobs scam by focusing on the investment scam. Sardesai claimed that he had raised the issue of duped investors in the Legislative Assembly last year and had also followed up with the Chief Minister’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD). He challenged Sawant to deny his repeated attempts to push for action against the accused.
“My friends were duped by the cheater. But the Chief Minister is trying to defame me by involving my friends, who are not connected to the scam. They sought anticipatory bail only because the Goa Police are caged parrots. Let the CM deny that I called on him at least 20 times to issue a notice to bring the accused from London,” Sardesai said.
