BICHOLIM: Bicholim Excise Department officials on Sunday intercepted two vehicles and arrested one of the truck drivers while trying to cross the Goa-Dodamarg border. The officials seized liquor worth about Rs 4.5 lakh and attached both the vehicles.
However, the driver of the other vehicle fled.

According to available information, on Sunday at around 9.30 pm, two vehicles were stopped by the excise officials when they entered the check post. As soon as the officials started checking the luggage in the first vehicle, the driver of the other vehicle fled. The Excise officials became suspicious and arrested the driver of the first vehicle. After searching both the vehicles, 17 liquor boxes were found in the first vehicle, while 329 boxes were found in the second.
The liquor seized in both the vehicles is worth Rs 4.5 lakh. The driver Ilias Gogavia Harunbhai, a 40-year-old resident of Rajkot, Gujarat has been arrested. The investigation is in progress under the guidance of Excise Inspector Hassan Khan.
