PORVORIM: The Goa Assembly witnessed ruckus on Thursday over differing answers given to Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai. Sardesai pointed out that Health Minister Vishwajit Rane had replied to Yuri by saying that private college is under consideration, while to him, Rane had replied that there was no such proposal for private medical or nursing college. Sardesai also quoted the CM that a decision to start such a college was taken by the Cabinet. Health Minister replied that there was nothing concrete and the matter was under consideration, but he would not go against the CVC guidelines. Opposition members rushed to the well of the House to oppose the private medical college.
In two separate questions raised by MLAs Cruz Silva and Vijai Sardesai raised the issue MLA Venzy Viegas raised the issue of 17425 referrals from South Goa District Hospital and demanded that Health Minister visit the hospital before 7 August and initiate the process for establishing the Cardiology, Neuorology, Orthopaedics department and the Cathlab. Sardesai cited that 10,000 sqm of land was being set aside near the hospital for a private medical college.
