PANJIM: The State government has notified draft rules of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 seeking suggestions/objections from the general public within 15 days.
“The draft Rules which the Government of Goa proposes to make in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 109 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 are hereby pre-published as required by Section 112 of the said Act, for information of all the persons likely to be affected thereby and notice is hereby given that the said draft Rules will be taken into consideration by the Government after expiry of a period of 15 days from the date of publication of this Notification in the Official Gazette,” the notification states.
The government has also notified the factor to be multiplied to the market value of the land while acquiring the land situated in rural areas for infrastructural and other government projects. The market value, the notification states, will be calculated by the Collector as per The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
It states that the market value shall be multiplied by a factor of 1.25 when the land acquired is within up to 5 kms from the nearest urban area whereas for areas above 5 kms and up to 20 kms, the factor is 1.5 and for the area above 20 kms the factor will be 2.
