MARGAO: Power Minister Milind Naik led the people of Margao in paying homage to the martyrs on Goa Revolution Day at the historic Lohia Maidan on Tuesday.
Ex-Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik, Margao Municipal Chairperson Arthur D’Silva, South Goa ZP Chairperson Nelly Rodrigues, District Collector N D Agrawal, district police chief Shekhar Prabhudessai, freedom fighters and school students participated in the function.
In his address, the Power Minister said that the government was committed to fulfill the demands of freedom fighters. Referring to pendency for issuance of aadhar card and power connection to a freedom fighter, Naik promised to address the grievances on a priority basis.
“This is a sad story. I will personally look into the matter. We cannot forget the sacrifices made by freedom fighters for the cause of Goa’s liberation,” he said.
He called upon the youth to work for the state and the country, and reminded the gathering that people are today enjoying the fruits of freedom because of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters.
Freedom fighter Gurunath Kelekar explained the significance of Goa Revolution Day.
