PANJIM: The State cabinet has approved an increase in salary and allowances of panchayat and zilla parishad members.
As per the new proposal the salaries and allowances of a sarpanch would be increased from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000. Dy sarpanchas, who received Rs 3,500, will now receive Rs 5,250, while panch members (including co-opted), who were receiving Rs 3,000, will now earn Rs 4,500.
Similarly, the Zilla Parishad adhyaksha who was receiving Rs 12,000 will now get Rs 18000, and the upadhyaksha will get Rs 16,500 and members will get Rs 15,000.
