A 160 MLD pipeline connected to the Salaulim Dam has been leaking since last night, leading to the wastage of lakhs of litres of water, officials and residents reported. Shockingly, the Department of Drinking Water Supply staff were reportedly unaware of the issue until local residents raised the alarm.
This comes just two days after repair work had been carried out on an adjacent section of the same pipeline. Despite the recent maintenance, the leakage has reappeared, and water continues to flow unchecked, exacerbating water shortages for residents in the area over the past two days.

Local residents have criticized the repeated failure, pointing to negligence and lack of supervision by the department.
