MARGAO: The Civic supplies cell in the Salcete Mamlatdar office in the District Collectorate once again received flak from citizens from Salcete over the slow pace of work pertaining to ration cards.
In fact, the office witnessed serpentine queue of ration card holders on Monday morning, who sounded critical over the very functioning of the Civil supplies cell and demanded its immediate streamlining.
While some of the people came for corrections in the ration cards, others came to collect their cards, but in vain. They demanded to know why they were forced to stand up in the queue for well over 45 minutes and called for urgent steps to put the office in order.
Incidentally, Salcete Mamlatdar Triveni Velip admitted that complaints over the functioning of the Civil supplies cell are pouring in her office almost every day.
Velip said she had written a letter to the Director of Civil Supplies in the past to ensure that the department provides the required manpower to attend to increasing number of applications.
