VASCO: Making yet another appeal to the State government to take some immediate decision on the issue of Kala Bhawan project which has been left incomplete since last several years, Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar has said that due to inaction of the government in completing the project, the villagers have been demanding that the panchayat should ask the government to handover the land, immediately.
The land was given for construction of multi-crore Kala Bhawan project and even the panchayat body feels that, if the government cannot complete the project, then they should handover the project as it is to panchayat which would approach private companies operating from the village for funds under corporate social responsibility and get the project completed, Borkar said.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of launching of road widening and beautification work, near Our Lady of Health Church in Sancoale.
“The whole of Sancoale village is upset with the way the State government has left Kala Bhawan project midway. During every gram sabha, the members have been accusing the panchayat of doing nothing on the issue as the land on which the project has come up belongs to panchayat,” Borkar said.
“Even we are repenting our decision to give 21,000 square meters of land to the government on goodwill. Now it is high time that the government either completes the project or gives back our land and possession of the incomplete building,” he said.
“We have so many industries and institutions that are operating in our jurisdiction and thus we feel that if government gives us the possession of the incomplete building, then we can take the help of industries and get the project completed; the panchayat will also earn some revenue once the project becomes operational,” he added.
