Naik gets into the mood, plays ghumot

VASCO: Sao Joao was celebrated by various groups in different parts of Mormugao taluka on Monday.
Revellers from Bhute Bhat Club (BBC) offering prayers at St Sebastiao Chapel at Bhute Bhat in Patrong-Baina, before proceeding towards the wells in the area and plunging into the water.
Attending the function, Industries Minister Mahadev Naik lauded the members of the Bhute Bhat Club for preserving their tradition and their identity.
Naik could not resist the tune of the Kunbi folk dance and began playing the ghumot along with the group, which was a special attraction of the Sao Joao bash at Bhute Bhat. The Sea Side Boys of Khariwada also celebrated the festival by jumping in the wells and then tapped their feet to the music in the artificial rain dance.
The Friends of Chicalim also celebrated Sao Joao festival by jumping in the pond and thereafter, the revellers enjoyed traditional Goan meals in their respective places.
