VASCO: Claiming that previous editions of Vasco Saptah were earlier restricted to the compound wall of the temple, noted businessman Paresh Joshi has regretted that the Saptah has now become commercialised and has spread to the entire Swatantra Path and bylanes.
Speaking at a meeting convened by MMC, Joshi also clarified that the Saptah committee was in no way involved in the setting up of stalls during the Lord Damodar Saptah.
Recollecting the earlier celebrations of Saptah, Joshi said the Saptah would take place around the temple compound wall, but now had spread all over the Swatantra Path road and the by-lanes.
“Due to commercialisation, the Saptah fair has gone up to 10 days and a lot of inconvenience is caused to residents staying in and around the temple area. I am not against the ten days Saptah fair, but it should be organised in an orderly manner,” said Joshi.
He also requested the council to conduct the Saptah meeting at least two months prior to the Saptah festival, so that authorities concerned have enough time to implement their plans to have a hassle-free Saptah.
