A number of Sarpanchas from Navelim constituency represented by the PWD Minister, Churchill Alemao have come out in open support of the decision to distribute water tanks to the people.
Navelim Sarpanch Paul Pereira said that free water tanks supplied by the PWD have brought a big relief to many areas of the village, who were facing water shortage due to host of factors. “Where is the scam in the water tank distribution when the tanks have reached the needy and the poor in my village? I have distributed around 300-odd tanks to the people in Navelim alone. I have a list of the beneficiaries in the Panchayat office. Anyone can come and inspect the water tanks”, he asserted.
Carmona Sarpanch Estaquio D’Costa said the water tanks distributed for the needy in the village has helped to alleviate the sufferings of the people. “The water tanks have reached the people of the village”, he added.
The Sarpanch of Aquem Baixo said the water tanks have especially come in handy for the scheduled tribes and others who were facing water supply problems.
Colva Panch Calvert Gonsalves said that many people in Colva village, who faced water problems, due to water supply to hotels, benefited from the distribution of the water tanks.
Sarpanch of Telaulim, Varca, besides Panch members and Alemao’s close supporters were present for the press briefing.
