PONDA: The health department has confirmed that a Savoi-Verem local has been tested positive for monkey fever.
A doctor disclosed that the affected victim is a woman from Savoi-Verem. As a precautionary measure, the Health Department has vaccinated around 195 Savoiverem locals.
It may be recalled that panic gripped Savoi-Verem as monkeys were reported to have been found in a decomposed state.
On Wednesday, Veterinary Department officials visited Kerim in Savoi-Verem following reports of a monkey being found in decomposed state. The locals intimated the health officials about the dead monkey. The officials however failed to ascertain the cause behind the monkey’s death as its body was found in decomposed state.
A week ago, around six monkeys were found in a decomposed state at Amarkuanem and Velcas
