VASCO: South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar on Saturday said that those raising issue of pollution should do so out of sincere devotion and without any vested interest.
Sawaikar was speaking to reporters after laying down foundation stone for development of open space as public-park at the housing board colony in Baina under MPLAD scheme. Mormugao MLA Milind Naik, MMC Chairperson Deepak Naik, Vice Chairperson Sashikant Parab and others were present on the occasion.
“The State government has already made its stand clear on pollution in the port town. No government can say that they want pollution; hence, to keep pollution level under control, all measures have been adopted,” he said.
The MP regretted that at times some element with ulterior motive rake up issues to confuse the people. “I therefore want to appeal to the people that while raising the issue of pollution there should not be any vested motives; whenever somebody wants to take up the issue, it should be with all sincerity and devotion,” he said.
“We all know that Goa is environmentally sensitive State and every government irrespective of which party is in power, has been doing its best to protect the environment as well as pollution aspects of the environment. The current government is concerned about the same and has taken all measures to protect the environment,” Sawaikar said.
