School students escape unhurt in Sanguem mishap

School students from Sanguem had a lucky escape after the mini bus in which they were traveling collided against a coal-laden truck near the entrance of Sanguem bus stand on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred when the mini bus (GA-01-W-4030), carrying school students, was about to leave Sanguem bus stand when a truck carrying coal from a local iron and steel manufacturing company collided against the bus. The traffic came to a standstill for nearly hour an hour.
However, tension gripped Sangeum as the irate mob decided to stop all goods vehicles near Sanguem bus stand from 1 pm to 2 pm, to protest against the rash and negligent driving by the truckers.
As students are in a hurry to return home, residents have urged authorities to stop trucks plying in the area during afternoon hours, as is done in other parts of the constituency, for the safety of the students.
