SANGUEM, DEC 23
Due to fear of terror threat looming large over the State, security at the Selaulim Dam has been tightened as a precautionary measure since Tuesday morning.
A visit to the Selaulim Dam revealed postings of two armed personnel on either side of the dam.
Inquiries revealed that the security by armed policemen would remain at the dam 24 hours, which will continue till the first week of January.
It is pertinent to note that since the time of PI Raju Raut Dessai taking charge of Sanguem Police Station, safety at Selaulim Dam has been increased which otherwise was left only to the private security guards.
However since the last two months, efforts are made by Sanguem PI Raju Raut Dessai to depute cops at the Selaulim Dam to check entry of the visitors visiting the site.
Moreover, restrictions are also imposed on the movement of vehicles at the dam and issuance of passes by Irrigation Department to private visitors.
Meanwhile, nakabandi at strategic locations in Sanguem will continue till early morning for the next few days. From December 24, nakabandi would commence at 6 pm and shall remain till 8 am and people are requested to co-operate with the authorities.
