PANJIM: The North Goa Principal District & Sessions Court completed hearing arguments in the Serula Comuindade land grab case and fixed the order for June 1 on whether to issues a process against former Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar and two others.
The court has been hearing a challenge petition filed by Advocate Aires Rodrigues rejecting the plea of the Crime Branch of December 2016 to close the case. The Court was not satisfied with the investigation conducted by Crime Branch under Section 190 (1) (a) of the CrPC after taking cognizance of the complaint filed by Rodrigues.
Opposing the move to close the case, Rodrigues submitted to the court that Crime Branch had derailed and vitiated the investigation by falsely and malafiedly portraying to the court that Parulekar was a victim who was misled by the comunidade officials to grab the land.
Rodrigues also drew the Court’s attention that Crime Branch had repeatedly informed the court that the investigation of the case was almost complete and that only sanction from the government was awaited to prosecute the accused.
