MARGAO: The South Goa Planning and Development Authority has decided to demolish the structure at Mungul-Margao belonging to MMC Chairperson Gonzaco Rebello.
The SGPDA has further decided to restore order in the wholesale fish market by banning sale of fish in the market after 10 am.
After a meeting of the SGPDA on Wednesday morning, Chairman Rajan Naik told the media that since the structure at Mungul is illegal in nature, the same will be demolished after issuing a notice to the owner. “The structure is standing in the road widening area and will have to be removed once the authorities take up widening of the Margao-Colva road. Even then, the SGPDA will order demolition of the structure,” he said, adding that inspection of the structure by PDA officials have revealed that it is illegal.
The SGPDA had on Monday inspected the structure owned by MMC Chairperson following a complaint lodged by a local resident Savio Dias, who had sought disqualification of Rebello for abetting illegal construction.
Meanwhile, the PDA Chairman said that the PDA will regulate the wholesale fish market and restore order. “We will soon install a gate at the entrance and exit of the wholesale fish market. This will help regulate the entry into the market. We have also decided to tender the Sopo. All these measures should hopefully help regulate the wholesale fish market”, he said.
, while asserting that no sale of fish will be permitted in the wholesale fish market after 10 am.
